The Cabbagetown Community Garden

The Community Garden's mission is to leverage its unique urban location to engage the community, educate gardeners of all ages and backgrounds, and empower them to plant, grow and harvest healthy, organic food.

The Garden was completed in the summer of 2010 and is located at 162 Berean Avenue. The creation of the garden was a combined effort of the Cabbagetown community, the City of Atlanta and Park Pride. The garden is the first community garden in Atlanta to be built on city owned property and not located on parkland. With the help of city council, Park Pride and CI, the city passed legislature to allow realize this community effort.

After several volunteer workdays in which the community removed an existing concrete slab, designed and built our cedar fence, and tilled and built the beds, the community garden was completed. All volunteers for the garden came from the neighborhood, further demonstrating the love our neighborhood has for coming together and making our little piece of Atlanta a more beautiful place.

The garden has 32 plots and over 30 members. For more information about adopting a plot, please contact us.
