Why the Park Matters

For 20 years, Cabbagetown Park has been our community’s gathering place. With your support, the Playscapes initiative will modernize the park so it serves all ages for the next 20 years.

Our Vision for the Next 20 Years

In 2024, Cabbagetown parents and neighbors began planning improvements to the park’s gathering spaces and playscapes. After community brainstorming sessions, and with support from Park Pride and Gresham Smith in summer 2025, we created conceptual designs based on the neighborhood’s priorities.

Playscape Happenings Recap

  • August: Park Pride’s Park Design Workshop Through Park Pride’s Park Design Workshop, we were paired with Gresham Smith, a landscape architecture firm, which volunteered its time and expertise to create conceptual plans reimaging our park gathering spaces at Cabbagetown Park. Check out the plans in slides above!

  • August: Request for Proposal (RFP) Received from Playscape Firms We received two RFPs to refresh and redesign the playscape equipment at Cabbagetown Park.

  • October 2025: Official launch of our Fundraising Campaign We’re excited about our plans, but need to raise over $500,000 to achieve our goals!

  • November 2025: Merch Sales and Supporting the Kid’s Tent at Chomp! We got the word out on all the great things we’re planning for the park! We had over 100 kids join the fun!

  • February 2025: Cabbagetown Kid’s Fun Run! The neighborhood kids laced up their shoes to raise over $1,500 dollars to support our park goal!
